typescript 7.0.2 is the native compiler and exports no JavaScript API, so ts-jest, typedoc and ts-node cannot read it. It comes in aliased as tsgo and does the typechecking; typescript moves from 3.7.2 to the 6 line for the tools. 3.7.2 could not parse its own installed @types — all 177 of its diagnostics were syntax errors inside node_modules d.ts files, and none of them reached the source. The modern compiler parses them, so what is left is the source: 11 diagnostics, the same on both compilers. Declaring types ["node", "jest"] restores the globals TS7 no longer sweeps in, and skipLibCheck stops this project typechecking its dependencies' declarations.
