1. Add in your Android project settings:

    ```diff title="android/settings.gradle"
    +include ':detox'
    +project(':detox').projectDir = new File(rootProject.projectDir, '../node_modules/detox/android/detox')
    ```

1. In your _root_ build script register `google()` as a repository lookup point in all projects:

    ```diff title="android/build.gradle"
     allprojects {
         repositories {
             // ...
    +        google()
         }
     }
    ```

    If `allprojects` section doesn't exist, then add it.

1. In your app’s build script, add to `dependencies` section:

    ```diff title="android/app/build.gradle"
     dependencies {
         // ...
    -    androidTestImplementation('com.wix:detox:+')
    +    androidTestImplementation(project(path: ":detox"))
     }
    ```

1. Stay in that file, just scroll down and add to the `defaultConfig` subsection:

    ```diff title="android/app/build.gradle"
     android {
       // ...

       defaultConfig {
           // ...
    +      testBuildType System.getProperty('testBuildType', 'debug')  // This will later be used to control the test apk build type
    +      testInstrumentationRunner 'androidx.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner'
    +      missingDimensionStrategy 'detox', 'full'
       }
     }
    ```
