Quick setup's Skip, its step and its done marks, and the payout wallet in Settings, were written to localStorage only, so every new machine showed the card again and the wallet never left the browser (it PUT /v1/preferences, which answers 404). usePref reads the person's document once from GET /v1/pref and writes one key with PATCH /v1/pref; signed in, the account is the truth and the card waits for it before drawing, so a card dismissed on one machine stays dismissed on all of them.
