Hanzo's copyright holder had been inserted into an upstream licence over 100% upstream code. LICENSE is now byte-identical to upstream's: upstream: danny-avila/LibreChat sha256: 1ce5c9d51e5ab764b44142cd44d1e687f5bfe32f807c7221c14d061007309b97 Attribution lives in NOTICE and only NOTICE. Hanzo branding (product names, logos, package names, docs) is unchanged -- branding is not licensing, and conflating the two is what caused this. Co-authored-by: Hanzo Dev <[email protected]>

This repository has two upstreams. Both are MIT-licensed and both are named here
as they name themselves.

LibreChat -- primary upstream

Copyright (c) 2026 LibreChat

LibreChat's MIT licence is reproduced verbatim in LICENSE. The application in
this repository (api/, client/, packages/, e2e/, the chat.yaml configuration
surface) descends from it; this repository's LibreChat root commit is upstream's
own initial import.

LiteLLM code and history are also present in this repository (the repository has
a second root commit, LiteLLM's initial import, and retains LiteLLM-derived files
under tests/, docker/build_from_pip/ and scripts/). LiteLLM is distributed under
a split licence:

* All content that resides under the "enterprise/" directory of this

in "enterprise/LICENSE".

This repository has no root "enterprise/" directory, so that carve-out is
presently inert; the clause is reproduced above so it travels with the code.

Prior defects recorded here so they are not repeated
----------------------------------------------------
1. The LICENSE file in this repository was LiteLLM's licence text with
LibreChat's copyright holder substituted into it, plus a line reading
"Originally based on LibreChat by Berri AI" -- LibreChat is not a Berri AI
project. LICENSE is now LibreChat's file, byte-identical to upstream.
2. An earlier revision of this file credited "Chat
(https://github.com/danny-avila/Chat)", a project that does not exist and a
URL that 404s: a debrand pass rewrote the one string it had to leave alone.
Hanzo branding (product name, logos, package names, documentation) is Hanzo's own
and is not part of either upstream work.
