initialRegistration gated on checkHealth and returned a bare
{ status: 'error' } when it did not read "ok" — no reason, nothing to
log, nothing to show. That is how a node answering 404 turned into a
button that appeared to do nothing at all: the caller had no way to
distinguish "the node is not there" from "nothing happened".
The non-success paths now carry a reason naming the node address and
what it actually said, so whoever handles the result can say it out
loud instead of failing silently.
