- Adopt upstream MCP user-agent handling in core/mcp; keep workspace-compatible wrappers
- Prefer theirs in core/protocol; preserve ours in TUI/CLI and workflows
- Purged any reintroduced codex-cli images per policy

verify: scripts/upstream-merge/verify.sh ok; build-fast.sh ok (no warnings)
