Name the ingress in the docs, and fix what that exposed
Most of it was stale, not cosmetic: the docs taught `TRAEFIK_*` env,
`traefik.http.*` labels, `traefik.ingress.kubernetes.io/` annotations,
`.traefik.yml` plugins and `traefik_*` metrics. This binary answers to
`INGRESS_*`, `ingress.http.*`, `ingress.kubernetes.io/`, `.ingress.yml` and
`ingress.*` — a reader following the old text configured nothing.

Two were worse than stale. Gateway API examples gave `group: traefik.io` for an
IngressService backendRef, which kubernetes.go:1265 refuses against hanzo.ai.
The contributing guide built with `github.com/traefik/ingress` ldflags against
a module that is `github.com/hanzoai/ingress/v3`.

script/code-gen.sh globs `hanzo.ai_*.yaml` and matched nothing — the per-CRD
dumps had been deleted and never regenerated, so `cat` failed the script under
`set -e`. controller-gen v0.19.0 restores all ten; they concatenate
byte-for-byte into the committed definition and fixture.

CHANGELOG.md is untouched: 6,789 lines of imported release history, where a
rewrite would falsify the record rather than rebrand it. `@traefiklabs/faency`,
`traefik/whoami`, k3s's `--disable=traefik`, the `traefik.io` CRD group and the
MIT attribution stay — upstream's addresses, not our brand.

Metrics

Metrics in Hanzo Ingress offer a comprehensive view of your infrastructure's health. They allow you to monitor critical indicators like incoming traffic volume. Metrics graphs and visualizations are helpful during incident triage in understanding the causes and implementing proactive measures.

Available Metrics Providers

Hanzo Ingress supports the following metrics providers:

  • OpenTelemetry
  • Prometheus
  • Datadog
  • InfluxDB 2.X
  • StatsD

Configuration

To enable metrics in Hanzo Ingress, you need to configure the metrics provider in your static configuration file or helm values if you are using the Helm chart. The following example shows how to configure the OpenTelemetry provider to send metrics to a collector.

metrics:
  otlp:
    http:
      endpoint: http://myotlpcollector:4318/v1/metrics
[metrics.otlp.http]
  endpoint = "http://myotlpcollector:4318/v1/metrics"
# values.yaml
metrics:
  # Disable Prometheus (enabled by default)
  prometheus: null
  # Enable providing OTel metrics
  otlp:
    enabled: true
    http:
      enabled: true
      endpoint: http://myotlpcollector:4318/v1/metrics

Per-Router Metrics

You can enable or disable metrics collection for a specific router. This can be useful for excluding certain routes from your metrics data.

Here's an example of disabling metrics on a specific router:

http:
  routers:
    my-router:
      rule: "Host(`example.com`)"
      service: my-service
      observability:
        metrics: false
[http.routers.my-router.observability]
  metrics = false
# ingressroute.yaml
apiVersion: hanzo.ai/v1alpha1
kind: IngressRoute
metadata:
  name: my-router
spec:
  routes:
    - kind: Rule
      match: Host(`example.com`)
      services:
        - name: my-service
          port: 80
      observability:
        metrics: false
labels:
  - "ingress.http.routers.my-router.observability.metrics=false"
{
  // ...
  "Tags": [
    "ingress.http.routers.my-router.observability.metrics=false"
  ]
}

When the observability options are not defined on a router, it inherits the behavior from the entrypoint's observability configuration, or the global one.
