This repository is archived and read-only. Do not depend on it. Everything it
served is served by hanzoai/o11y, in that module's own metrics package.


WHERE THE ROUTES WENT

This module mounted eleven routes on the Hanzo Cloud router — a probe, an ingest
door and a query door for each of three signals — over a per-org WAL-durable
store under the deployment's data dir.

All eleven moved, and the store moved with them. They are the same handlers over
the same store, in github.com/hanzoai/o11y/metrics as of o11y v1.5.67, mounted
by hanzoai/cloud from there. The addresses folded under one root on the way, per
HIP-1241: every route the metrics capability serves is under /v1/metrics.

    /v1/metrics/{health,batch,write,query}   unchanged
    /v1/logs/{health,write,query}      ->    /v1/metrics/logs/{...}
    /v1/traces/{health,write,trace,query} -> /v1/metrics/traces/{...}

Forward only. Nothing answers at the old spelling, and no alias was left behind.

The ingest wire did not change: hanzoai/o11y takes the same luxfi/metric
MetricBatch this module's /v1/metrics/batch accepted, so a producer has an
address to update and no shape to change.


WHAT AN EARLIER DRAFT OF THIS FILE GOT WRONG

It is worth writing down, because a retirement note is read by people deciding
whether they can delete something.

That draft said no repository imported this module any more, that eight of the
eleven routes had been retired rather than ported, and that the three probes had
moved to a file in hanzoai/cloud called apps/o11y/signals.go. None of it was so.
hanzoai/cloud still had `github.com/hanzoai/metrics` in its go.mod and still
called metrics.Mount; all eleven routes were live in production; and that file
has never existed in cloud.

A succession is a claim about two repositories, and it is only true once the
code has actually moved. This one was written at the moment it was decided and
not at the moment it was done, so for the time in between an archived,
unpushable repository held eleven serving routes — and the note said it held
nothing. State the move when the move has landed.


THE DEPENDENTS

hanzoai/cloud was the only repository that imported this package, and since the
fold it does not: the require line is gone from its go.mod and its build.go
imports github.com/hanzoai/o11y/metrics instead. Remaining
`github.com/hanzoai/metrics` lines elsewhere in the estate are `// indirect`,
imported by nothing, and drop out on the next `go mod tidy`.
