The icons were the Expo scaffold's, and the brand SVG they would have been cut
from carries `fill:#000` with white only under a prefers-color-scheme query — a
question a rasterizer never asks. Rendered, the mark came out black, and black
over the #0a0a0a adaptive background is a black square.

So the mark is drawn from the favicon's geometry with the fill stated: white,
on the app's own dark ground. The background layer goes with it — a flat colour
is already `backgroundColor`, and saying it twice invites the two to disagree.
