Some platforms may not have a compiler, or be appropriate for use with
dtrace-provider. On those environments allow the build to succeed and
rely on the stub implementations instead.
This will squelch all build output, which may be loud and noisey for end
users. If you want to see build output set the environment variable V to
anything.
DTrace is not yet built by default on FreeBSD releases, so remove
it here, for now.
This also attempts to simplify the GYP targets, by using a dummy
target in the case of a non-DTrace platform.
This change allows objects to be passed as argument values, using a
"json" type which is implemented as a regular char * argument, but
with serialising of the object to JSON.
This adds GYP support, simplifying the existing wscript to always build for
32 bit. The loading of the bindings is improves to only log load errors if
we believe the bindings should have loaded, silencing an error of no use on
Linux or Windows.
