public/ ships verbatim, so these were 1.6MB of files sitting in every build that
no rule ever asked for:

Checked the way this can bite rather than by filename alone: the CSS references
FAMILIES ('Geist Mono', 'Geist Sans', 'Inter', 'Space Mono'), so a file could look
unreferenced and still be loaded. It is not — every @font-face src in the tree
points at node_modules/geist/dist/fonts/, and there is no reference to /fonts/
anywhere in src or public.
Deliberately conservative about this one: deleting a font a @font-face DOES load is
how a product ends up silently rendering in system-ui. The families above keep
resolving through the geist package exactly as before.
