Root of this repository is SigNoz's OpenTelemetry Collector distribution,
"Initial distro implementation" (commit cc061f7, Srikanth Chekuri, SigNoz,
June 2022), original Go module path github.com/SigNoz/signoz-otel-collector.
That distribution is itself a build of the OpenTelemetry Collector.

Git history in this repository is intact (not squashed); the upstream root
commit and subsequent SigNoz history are preserved.

COPYLEFT considerations (AGPL-3.0, Section 13)
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The repository LICENSE is AGPL-3.0, inherited from upstream SigNoz. AGPL-3.0
Section 13 ("Remote Network Interaction") requires that operators who make a
modified version available to users interacting with it over a network offer
those users access to the Corresponding Source. This collector is network
server software (OTLP :4317/:4318, ZAP-native :4319). Operation as a hosted
service therefore carries the Section 13 source-offer obligation. The
underlying OpenTelemetry Collector components remain Apache-2.0; see LICENSE
and the per-component license headers for the applicable terms of each part.

DEVIATIONS

Changes made by Hanzo AI, Inc. relative to upstream signoz-otel-collector:

- Rebranded the Go module path github.com/SigNoz/signoz-otel-collector ->
  github.com/hanzoai/otel-collector (commit ed4147c).
- Rebranded the product to "Hanzo O11y Otel Collector" (README, LLM.md).
- Added ZAP-native ingest: receiver/zapreceiver and exporter/zapexporter
  (zap-proto/http on :4319) over upstream OTLP.
- Renamed the ClickHouse trace/log exporters to the Hanzo Datastore
  exporters exporter/datastoretracesexporter and
  exporter/datastorelogsexporter, writing to hanzoai/datastore (ClickHouse).
- Renamed the physical write-side schema signoz_* -> o11y_* (commit 03dbf86).
- Namespaced the distro components signoz*/clickhouse* -> o11y*: exporters
  o11ykafkaexporter, o11ydatastoremeter, o11ydatastoremetrics; receivers
  o11ykafkareceiver, o11yawsfirehosereceiver; processors o11yspanmetrics,
  o11ytailsampler, o11ytransform, o11yllmpricing, o11ylogspipeline; connector
  o11ymeterconnector.
- Forked the ClickHouse dd-sketch / proto drivers to hanzoai and renamed the
  wire package chproto -> dsproto (commits 2e9c809, b7999ae).
- Migrated test doubles from the hanzoai/mock fork to the hanzo-ds/mock
  datastore API (NewDatastoreNative) (commit 29db386).
- Removed all "signoz" identifiers from Go source and go.mod (0 remaining);
  residual "clickhouse" references are technical (the datastore backend).
- Replaced upstream CI with a single root hanzo.yml plus a ~7-line
  .github/workflows/cicd.yml importing hanzoai/ci; builds run on the
  self-hosted arc pool and produce two self-building images
  (ghcr.io/hanzoai/otel-collector, ghcr.io/hanzoai/o11y-schema-migrator).
- Added project knowledge files LLM.md (with AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md symlinks).
