\section{Background}
\subsection{Model Context Protocol}
MCP~\cite{mcp2022} defines a client-server protocol where:
\begin{itemize}
\item The \textbf{server} exposes tools, resources, and prompts.
\item The \textbf{client} (typically an LLM application) discovers capabilities and issues requests.
\end{itemize}
The protocol uses JSON-RPC 2.0 with the following key methods:
\begin{itemize}
\item \texttt{initialize}: Capability negotiation
\item \texttt{tools/list}: Enumerate available tools
\item \texttt{tools/call}: Invoke a tool with arguments
\item \texttt{resources/list}: Enumerate resources
\item \texttt{resources/read}: Read resource content
\end{itemize}
\subsection{Related Implementations}
The reference MCP SDK~\cite{mcpsdk2022} provides basic server scaffolding but requires manual tool implementation. Claude Desktop~\cite{claude2023} integrates MCP for local tool access but with a fixed tool set. Our implementation extends these with a comprehensive, configurable tool library.
