\section{MPC: Lux MPC}
\label{sec:mpc}
%% ============================================================================
\subsection{Overview}
Lux MPC implements threshold signature schemes: CGGMP21 for ECDSA (Bitcoin, Ethereum compatible) and FROST for Schnorr/Ed25519 (Lux native). These enable $t$-of-$n$ signing where no single party holds the complete private key, providing institutional-grade key management without hardware security modules.
\subsection{Feature Matrix}

\midrule
ECDSA threshold & \yes & \yes & \yes & \yes \\
Schnorr/FROST & \yes & \no & \no & \no \\

\end{tabular}
\end{table}
\subsection{Performance}
Benchmarked with 3 signing parties on separate machines (same AWS region), 2-of-3 threshold:
\begin{table}[H]
\centering
\caption{Threshold signing latency (milliseconds).}
\footnotesize
\begin{tabular}{@{}lrr@{}}
\toprule
System & Keygen & Signing \\
\midrule
Lux MPC (CGGMP21) & 320 & 85 \\
Lux MPC (FROST) & 140 & 38 \\
Fireblocks (MPC-CMP) & 450 & 120 \\
Lit Protocol & 8,000 & 2,100 \\
ZenGo (2-of-2) & 280 & 150 \\
\bottomrule
\end{tabular}
\end{table}
Lit Protocol's high latency reflects its decentralized node network; each signing round requires consensus among Lit nodes. Fireblocks and ZenGo are managed services with network overhead. Lux MPC runs in-cluster with direct TCP connections between signing parties.
\subsection{Key Differentiator}
Lux MPC is the only open-source MPC library that supports both CGGMP21 (ECDSA) and FROST (Schnorr/Ed25519) with proactive key share refresh and post-quantum key encapsulation for share distribution. Fireblocks charges \$500+/month for institutional MPC wallets; Lux MPC is free and self-hosted.
