Liquid staking was pioneered by Lido Finance \cite{lidofinance} on Ethereum, achieving over \$15B in total value locked. Rocket Pool \cite{rocketpool} introduced a decentralized node operator model. Marinade Finance \cite{marinade} adapted liquid staking for Solana's delegated PoS.
