Dinh et al.~\cite{blockbench} provide the BLOCKBENCH framework for evaluating private
blockchains, measuring throughput, latency, and scalability. Our work extends this
methodology to public consensus protocols with post-quantum considerations.
The Narwhal and Tusk paper~\cite{narwhal-tusk} demonstrates that separating data
availability from consensus ordering improves throughput by 2$\times$ over monolithic
designs. Quasar could adopt a similar mempool separation in future work.
Yin et al.~\cite{hotstuff} establish the linear communication lower bound for
partially-synchronous BFT, which Quasar matches while adding post-quantum certificates.
The Mysticeti protocol~\cite{mysticeti} achieves 0.5\,s WAN consensus latency with
uncertified DAGs, the closest competitor to Quasar's 0.2\,s finality. However,
Mysticeti lacks post-quantum signatures.
