Cross-chain bridge security has been surveyed by Zamyatin et al.\ \cite{zamyatin2021bridge} and Lee et al.\ \cite{lee2023bridge}. The IBC protocol \cite{goes2020ibc} pioneered light-client-based cross-chain transfers in the Cosmos ecosystem. Ethereum's sync committee light client \cite{ethereumlc2022} enables external chains to track Ethereum finality.

Atomic cross-chain swaps were formalized by Herlihy \cite{herlihy2018atomic} using hash time-locked contracts (HTLCs). Robinson and Hyland-Wood \cite{robinson2022crosschain} extended atomic swaps to arbitrary contract calls. SNARK-based bridge verification was proposed by Succinct Labs \cite{succinct2023} for Ethereum light client compression.
