Bylines, paper authorship, correspondence addresses and the founder blurb under each post named an individual. They name the organisation that published the work instead: the brand on posts and pages, the research byline on papers, and research@ in place of a personal address. Both are what these repositories already used elsewhere — nothing new was coined. Co-authors are untouched. Where a paper named someone else alongside, they stay named; only the one byline changed. Bibliography entries, running heads, PDF metadata and affiliations move with it, so a citation still resolves to whoever the cited paper names. Sample and fixture data uses the placeholder name these tests already use elsewhere, so no assertion changed meaning. Co-authored-by: Hanzo Dev <[email protected]>

Building the Paper
Prerequisites
You need a LaTeX distribution installed:
macOS:
brew install --cask mactex
Ubuntu/Debian:
sudo apt-get install texlive-full
Other systems: Install TeXLive or MiKTeX
Build Commands
Using Make (recommended):
# Build the PDF
make paper
# Clean build artifacts
make paper-clean
# Watch for changes and rebuild automatically
make paper-watch
Manual build:
cd paper
pdflatex main.tex
bibtex main
pdflatex main.tex
pdflatex main.tex
The final PDF will be generated as paper/main.pdf.
Editing Guidelines
- Each section is in its own file for easier collaboration
- Use standard LaTeX formatting and BibTeX for references
- Add new figures to the
figures/directory - Update
references.bibfor new citations - Follow academic paper conventions for structure and tone
Physics Metaphors
The paper extensively uses physics and astrophysics metaphors to explain the consensus protocol:
- Photon - Basic voting messages/interactions
- Wave - Threshold voting with interference patterns
- Focus - Confidence accumulation (like laser focusing)
- Prism - Conflict set separation
- Nova - Linear chain finality (stellar explosion)
- Nebula - DAG consensus (star formation)
- Quasar - Post-quantum security overlay (cosmic beacons)
These metaphors are not just pedagogical—they guide the actual protocol design and implementation.
Contributing
When contributing to the paper:
- Edit the appropriate section file in
sections/ - Add new references to
references.bib - Test the build with
make paper - Ensure all citations work properly
The modular structure allows multiple authors to work on different sections simultaneously without conflicts.
