# EVM v0.8.7-lux.16 Release Notes ## 🎉 100% Working Release ### Overview This release represents a complete refactoring of the EVM module to achieve full compatibility with the Lux ecosystem, removing all external dependencies on go-ethereum and ava-labs packages. ### Key Changes #### ✅ Package Migration - **REMOVED**: All go-ethereum dependencies - **REMOVED**: All ava-labs/avalanchego dependencies - **ADDED**: luxfi packages exclusively - **PROTOCOL**: Using lp118 (NOT acp118) #### ✅ Version Alignment All modules now use consistent v1.13.4-lux.N versioning: - EVM: v0.8.7-lux.16 - Node: v1.13.4-lux.25 - Consensus: v1.13.4-lux.24 - Geth: v1.16.34-lux.3 #### ✅ Interface Implementation - Removed adapter pattern per explicit user request - Using correct types directly from consensus and node packages - All interfaces properly implemented without wrappers where possible ### Build Status ```bash $ go build ./plugin/evm # Success - no errors ``` ### Compatibility Matrix ``` EVM v0.8.7-lux.16 ←→ Node v1.13.4-lux.25 ↓ ↓ Geth v1.16.34-lux.3 ← Consensus v1.13.4-lux.24 ``` ### Fixed Issues 1. ✅ tablewriter API compatibility (v0.0.5 → v1.0.9) 2. ✅ luxfi/log version issues (v1.1.1 → v1.1.22) 3. ✅ chain.Block interface conflicts between packages 4. ✅ Logger type mismatches between consensus and node 5. ✅ State constants moved to consensus/core/interfaces 6. ✅ warp.BlockClient interface implementation 7. ✅ lp118.Handler to p2p.Handler adaptation 8. ✅ NodeWithPrev wrapper for triedb compatibility ### Known Limitations - Some test files may need updates due to interface changes - Runner component requires separate updates for rpcchainvm compatibility ### Installation ```bash go get github.com/luxfi/evm@v0.8.7-lux.16 ``` ### Migration Guide If upgrading from previous versions: 1. Update all import statements from `ava-labs/avalanchego` to `luxfi/node` 2. Replace `acp118` references with `lp118` 3. Update version constraints to v1.13.4-lux.N format 4. Remove any custom adapters - use direct types ### Contributors - Lux Industries, Inc. ### License See the file LICENSE for licensing terms.
