Legal compliance:
- LICENSE.txt retains original Copyright © 2024 ZAMA verbatim (§1-§2)
- LICENSE.txt adds modifications copyright © 2026 Lux Industries Inc.
- §3 endorsement clause: Torus is marketed exclusively as a Lux product;
no Zama name used in README, docs, or marketing
- NOTICE file provides factual attribution per legal best practice
(not endorsement; required by upstream BSD-3-Clause-Clear)
README + NOTICE rewritten from scratch with Lux brand:
- Quick-start in Python (torus.fhe)
- Architecture diagram showing the gen-1 vtbl integration path
(luxcpp/gpu → lux-private/gpu-kernels for CUDA/Metal/WebGPU)
- Scheme coverage table: TFHE (luxfi/fhe), CKKS/BGV/BFV (luxfi/lattice)
- Lux FHE family table: Torus / TorusVM / TorusEVM / TorusML / TorusNet
Known limitations (phase-2A scope):
- PyPI package torus-fhe not yet published; the torus Python module
is renamed structurally but pip-installable distribution is a
follow-up (Phase 2A.1)
- MLIR dialect rename is text-level; the compiler-internal LLVM
rebuild (concrete-compiler-internal-llvm-project submodule) is
structural and works; tablegen files renamed concrete→torus but the
generated .inc files in the source tree will regenerate at build
time
- backends/torus-cuda/implementation/ is an upstream submodule
pointer to the tfhe-rs source (not fetched in the staging clone);
the CUDA backend body is delivered out-of-tree
- ~100 test-fixture variable names like concrete_encoded_sample
retain "concrete" as a math term (vs symbolic); these are inside
tests/, not the public API; cleanup is a follow-up commit
- 295 Python `from concrete import ...` residuals in luxfhe/ml-sdk
consumer remain; that repo's import update is Phase 2B
This commit is the seed for the luxfhe/torus repo. Push as the first
commit to a fresh GitHub repo; do not re-import upstream Zama git
history.

'SDFG' Dialect
Dialect for the construction of static data flow graphs A dialect for the construction of static data flow graphs. The data flow graph is composed of a set of processes, connected through data streams. Special streams allow for data to be injected into and to be retrieved from the data flow graph.
Operation definition
SDFG.get (::mlir::toruslang::SDFG::Get)
Retrieves a data element from a stream
Retrieves a single data element from the specified stream (i.e., an instance of the element type of the stream).
Example:
"SDFG.get" (%stream) : (!SDFG.stream<1024xi64>) -> (tensor<1024xi64>)
Operands:
| Operand | Description |
|---|---|
stream |
An SDFG data stream |
Results:
| Result | Description |
|---|---|
data |
any type |
SDFG.init (::mlir::toruslang::SDFG::Init)
Initializes the streaming framework
Initializes the streaming framework. This operation must be performed before control reaches any other operation from the dialect.
Example:
"SDFG.init" : () -> !SDFG.dfg
Results:
| Result | Description |
|---|---|
| «unnamed» | An SDFG data flow graph |
SDFG.make_process (::mlir::toruslang::SDFG::MakeProcess)
Creates a new SDFG process
Creates a new SDFG process and connects it to the input and output streams.
Example:
%in0 = "SDFG.make_stream" { type = #SDFG.stream_kind<host_to_device> }(%dfg) : (!SDFG.dfg) -> !SDFG.stream<tensor<1024xi64>>
%in1 = "SDFG.make_stream" { type = #SDFG.stream_kind<host_to_device> }(%dfg) : (!SDFG.dfg) -> !SDFG.stream<tensor<1024xi64>>
%out = "SDFG.make_stream" { type = #SDFG.stream_kind<device_to_host> }(%dfg) : (!SDFG.dfg) -> !SDFG.stream<tensor<1024xi64>>
"SDFG.make_process" { type = #SDFG.process_kind<add_eint> }(%dfg, %in0, %in1, %out) :
(!SDFG.dfg, !SDFG.stream<tensor<1024xi64>>, !SDFG.stream<tensor<1024xi64>>, !SDFG.stream<tensor<1024xi64>>) -> ()

SDFG.make_stream (::mlir::toruslang::SDFG::MakeStream)
Returns a new SDFG stream
Returns a new SDFG stream, transporting data either between
processes on the device, from the host to the device or from
the device to the host. All streams are typed, allowing data
to be read / written through SDFG.get and SDFG.put only
using the stream's type.
Example:
"SDFG.make_stream" { name = "stream", type = #SDFG.stream_kind<host_to_device> }(%dfg)
: (!SDFG.dfg) -> !SDFG.stream<tensor<1024xi64>>

SDFG.put (::mlir::toruslang::SDFG::Put)
Writes a data element to a stream
Writes the input operand to the specified stream. The operand's type must meet the element type of the stream.
Example:
"SDFG.put" (%stream, %data) : (!SDFG.stream<1024xi64>, tensor<1024xi64>) -> ()
Operands:
| Operand | Description |
|---|---|

any type |
SDFG.shutdown (::mlir::toruslang::SDFG::Shutdown)
Shuts down the streaming framework
Shuts down the streaming framework. This operation must be performed after any other operation from the dialect.
Example:
"SDFG.shutdown" (%dfg) : !SDFG.dfg
Operands:
| Operand | Description |
|---|---|
dfg |
An SDFG data flow graph |
SDFG.start (::mlir::toruslang::SDFG::Start)
Finalizes the creation of an SDFG and starts execution of its processes
Finalizes the creation of an SDFG and starts execution of its processes. Any creation of streams and processes must take place before control reaches this operation.
Example:
"SDFG.start"(%dfg) : !SDFG.dfg
Operands:
