zeekay 5f1d29cf0b papers: Zoo 4.0 launch retrospective (2026-02-14)
Adds explicit Triumvirate framing (DEX+EVM+FHE) tying Zoo into the
Lux-family canonical L1 configuration. Existing 11-section structure
preserved: thesis, L1 graduation, GPU-native execution, Zoo DEX V2/V3
+ V4 precompile to Lux DEX, AI Desktop with Zen models, zoo-bot,
Zoo Bridge multi-ecosystem, F-Chain FHE + Z-Chain ZKP privacy,
NFT migration program, wallet desktop, activation phases. Zoo
chronology preserved: 1.0 (BSC 2021, Worring/NFT Liquidity Protocol)
-> 2.0 (Lux L2 EVM PQ October 2024) -> 3.0 (full PQ 2025) ->
4.0 (GPU-native sovereign L1 Feb 14 2026). April 20 native securities
launch with Liquidity Protocol confirmed in section 11.

\section{The 4.0 Thesis}
\label{sec:thesis}
\Zoo{} 4.0 is 100\% \GPU{}-powered. The fastest blockchain plus consensus plus
\textsc{evm} ever shipped. Pure C++ and \GPU{} kernels for all hot-path
cryptography. No interpreter glue on the critical path. No CPU fallbacks
gating throughput. No hybrid scheduler that pretends.
\subsection{What ``\GPU{}-native'' actually means}
In the \Zoo{} 4.0 stack, every primitive whose latency matters at validator
scale lives on the \GPU{} device for the duration of a block. Concretely:
\begin{itemize}[leftmargin=1.2em]
\item Triple-consensus signature verification (\BLS{}12-381 aggregate +
\Corona{} threshold + \MLDSA{}-65 identity) runs as fused
\GPU{} kernels per the \QuasarGPU{} adapter (\textsc{lp-132}).
\item The \textsc{evm} bytecode interpreter executes as a fiber
\textsc{vm} with 256-bit \texttt{U256} arithmetic implemented as
device-resident SIMD (\textsc{lp-009}).
\item Cold-state \texttt{SLOAD} suspends the fiber rather than blocking the
warp, so a single warp finishes a block of mixed-cost transactions
without serial stalls (\textsc{lp-009}).
\item The \GPU{}-Residency Invariant (\textsc{lp-137}) forbids spurious
host round-trips: state, witnesses, and proofs stay on-device until
the \Quasar{}Cert is emitted.
\end{itemize}
\subsection{Why this is a category step, not a tuning pass}
Block production is a pipeline of $O(n)$ verification + $O(n \log n)$
ordering + $O(n)$ execution + $O(1)$ certificate generation, where $n$ is
the transaction count. Optimizing any single stage on CPU eventually hits
the memory wall or the per-core ceiling. \Zoo{} 4.0 takes the entire
pipeline to a SIMT machine where verification, execution, and proof
emission share device memory. The result is not a constant-factor
improvement; it is a different point on the latency-versus-throughput
curve, anchored by three specs:
\begin{enumerate}[leftmargin=1.4em]
\item \textbf{LP-132 (\QuasarGPU{} adapter)} --- deterministic kernel
scheduling that makes \GPU{} execution reproducible across
validators with the same hardware class.
\item \textbf{LP-009 (\GPU{}-native \textsc{evm})} --- fiber \textsc{vm}
for bytecode, U256 arithmetic, suspend-on-cold-state semantics.
\item \textbf{LP-137 (\GPU{}-Residency Invariant)} --- the negative
constraint: no host bounce on the hot path.
\end{enumerate}
\subsection{What \Zoo{} 4.0 is not}
\Zoo{} 4.0 is not a marketing rename. It is not an upgrade only to consensus
or only to the \textsc{evm}. It is the substrate change. Every component
documented in this paper --- \DEX{} matching, \FHE{} compute, \ZKP{}
verification, AI inference attestation, bridge message verification, and
wallet-side transaction signing --- runs on the new substrate.
\subsection{Why now}
The Zen model family ships frontier-tier weights at every scale from
\texttt{zen4-nano} (0.8B) through \texttt{zen4-ultra-max} (1T+). Modern
data-center \GPU{}s ship with confidential compute and FP4/FP8 tensor
cores. \Quasar{} 4.0 ships with triple-consensus support, certificate
parallelism. Together, these pieces close the loop: a chain that mints,
trades, attests, and pays for AI compute on the same device class that
runs the AI compute. \Zoo{} 4.0 is the first chain to take that loop
seriously.
