James Peter fe40d37adc fix(tui/history): demote earlier Answer outputs mid-turn 
Add `mid_turn` to assistant history records and cells, and retroactively mark previous Answer streams as mid‑turn when a new Answer id arrives so only the final output gets gutter/bold styling.

Also upgrade legacy `gpt-5-codex` slugs to `gpt-5.1-codex`, bump GPT‑5 profile/review defaults to `gpt-5.2`, and refresh related TUI snapshots.

James Peter d9f886a069 feat(models): add GPT-5.2 defaults and preserve effort preference 
Add GPT-5.2 to presets/agents and upgrade prompts. Persist preferred reasoning effort separately from effective clamped effort, and keep the TUI spinner running until TaskComplete for multi-message turns.

Eric TrautandGitHub 43e6e75317 Added deprecation notice for "chat" wire_api (#7897) 
This PR adds a deprecation notice that appears once per invocation of
codex (not per conversation) when a conversation is started using a
custom model provider configured with the "chat" wire_api. We have
[announced](https://github.com/openai/codex/discussions/7782) that this
feature is deprecated and will be removed in early Feb 2026, so we want
to notify users of this fact.

The deprecation notice was added in a way that works with the
non-interactive "codex exec", the TUI, and with the extension. Screen
shots of each are below.

Michael BolinandGitHub e0d7ac51d3 fix: policy/*.codexpolicy -> rules/*.rules (#7888) 
We decided that `*.rules` is a more fitting (and concise) file extension
than `*.codexpolicy`, so we are changing the file extension for the
"execpolicy" effort. We are also changing the subfolder of `$CODEX_HOME`
from `policy` to `rules` to match.

This PR updates the in-repo docs and we will update the public docs once
the next CLI release goes out.

Locally, I created `~/.codex/rules/default.rules` with the following
contents:

prefix_rule(pattern=["gh", "pr", "view"])
```

And then I asked Codex to run:

```
gh pr view 7888 --json title,body,comments
```

and it was able to!

### What

Don't treat `q` as a special quit character on the API key paste page in
the onboarding flow.

This addresses #7413, where pasting API keys with `q` would cause codex
to quit on Windows.

### Test Plan

Tested on Windows and MacOS.
