Filip Skokan acb2913e8e refactor(types): improve key and result inference
Thread resolver return types through verify and decrypt results. Add
overloads so wrappers can forward either keys or resolvers.

Infer importJWK and generateSecret results from their inputs. Keep JWT
payload generics unconstrained while rejecting known non-object shapes.

# Function: compactVerify()
## [💗 Help the project](https://github.com/sponsors/panva)
Support from the community to continue maintaining and improving this module is welcome. If you find the module useful, please consider supporting the project by [becoming a sponsor](https://github.com/sponsors/panva).
## Call Signature
â–¸ **compactVerify**(`jws`, `key`, `options?`): [`Promise`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Promise)\<[`CompactVerifyResult`](../../../../types/interfaces/CompactVerifyResult.md)\>
Verifies the signature and format of and afterwards decodes the Compact JWS.
This function is exported (as a named export) from the main `'jose'` module entry point as well
as from its subpath export `'jose/jws/compact/verify'`.
### Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Description |
| ------ | ------ | ------ |
| `jws` | `string` \| [`Uint8Array`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Uint8Array) | Compact JWS. |
| `key` | [`KeyInput`](../../../../types/type-aliases/KeyInput.md) | Key to verify the JWS with. See [Algorithm Key Requirements](https://github.com/panva/jose/issues/210#jws-alg). |
| `options?` | [`VerifyOptions`](../../../../types/interfaces/VerifyOptions.md) | JWS Verify options. |
### Returns
[`Promise`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Promise)\<[`CompactVerifyResult`](../../../../types/interfaces/CompactVerifyResult.md)\>
### Example
```js
const jws =
'eyJhbGciOiJFUzI1NiJ9.SXTigJlzIGEgZGFuZ2Vyb3VzIGJ1c2luZXNzLCBGcm9kbywgZ29pbmcgb3V0IHlvdXIgZG9vci4.kkAs_gPPxWMI3rHuVlxHaTPfDWDoqdI8jSvuSmqV-8IHIWXg9mcAeC9ggV-45ZHRbiRJ3obUIFo1rHphPA5URg'
const { payload, protectedHeader } = await jose.compactVerify(jws, publicKey)
console.log(protectedHeader)
console.log(new TextDecoder().decode(payload))
```
## Call Signature
â–¸ **compactVerify**\<`KeyType`\>(`jws`, `getKey`, `options?`): [`Promise`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Promise)\<[`CompactVerifyResult`](../../../../types/interfaces/CompactVerifyResult.md) & [`ResolvedKey`](../../../../types/interfaces/ResolvedKey.md)\<`KeyType`\>\>
Verifies the signature and format of and afterwards decodes the Compact JWS, resolving the key
dynamically. The result additionally carries the [resolved key](../../../../types/interfaces/ResolvedKey.md#key).
### Type Parameters
| Type Parameter | Default type |
| ------ | ------ |
| `KeyType` *extends* [`Uint8Array`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Uint8Array) \| [`CryptoKey`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/CryptoKey) | [`Uint8Array`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Uint8Array) \| [`CryptoKey`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/CryptoKey) |
### Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Description |
| ------ | ------ | ------ |
| `jws` | `string` \| [`Uint8Array`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Uint8Array) | Compact JWS. |
| `getKey` | [`CompactVerifyGetKey`](../interfaces/CompactVerifyGetKey.md)\<`KeyType`\> | Function resolving a key to verify the JWS with. See [Algorithm Key Requirements](https://github.com/panva/jose/issues/210#jws-alg). |
| `options?` | [`VerifyOptions`](../../../../types/interfaces/VerifyOptions.md) | JWS Verify options. |
### Returns
[`Promise`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Promise)\<[`CompactVerifyResult`](../../../../types/interfaces/CompactVerifyResult.md) & [`ResolvedKey`](../../../../types/interfaces/ResolvedKey.md)\<`KeyType`\>\>
## Call Signature
â–¸ **compactVerify**(`jws`, `key`, `options?`): [`Promise`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Promise)\<[`CompactVerifyResult`](../../../../types/interfaces/CompactVerifyResult.md) & [`Partial`](https://www.typescriptlang.org/docs/handbook/utility-types.html#partialtype)\<[`ResolvedKey`](../../../../types/interfaces/ResolvedKey.md)\<[`Uint8Array`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Uint8Array) \| [`CryptoKey`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/CryptoKey)\>\>\>
Accepts either form of the `key` argument. Use this overload when forwarding a value that may be
either a key or a key resolution function; `key` is present on the result only when a resolution
function was used.
### Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Description |
| ------ | ------ | ------ |
| `jws` | `string` \| [`Uint8Array`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Uint8Array) | Compact JWS. |
| `key` | [`KeyInput`](../../../../types/type-aliases/KeyInput.md) \| [`CompactVerifyGetKey`](../interfaces/CompactVerifyGetKey.md)\<[`Uint8Array`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Uint8Array) \| [`CryptoKey`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/CryptoKey)\> | Key, or function resolving a key, to verify the JWS with. See [Algorithm Key Requirements](https://github.com/panva/jose/issues/210#jws-alg). |
| `options?` | [`VerifyOptions`](../../../../types/interfaces/VerifyOptions.md) | JWS Verify options. |
### Returns
[`Promise`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Promise)\<[`CompactVerifyResult`](../../../../types/interfaces/CompactVerifyResult.md) & [`Partial`](https://www.typescriptlang.org/docs/handbook/utility-types.html#partialtype)\<[`ResolvedKey`](../../../../types/interfaces/ResolvedKey.md)\<[`Uint8Array`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Uint8Array) \| [`CryptoKey`](https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/CryptoKey)\>\>\>
