Design + specification (draft) for collapsing a Lux validator's three
endpoints -- 9630 HTTP-RPC, 9631 Avalanche staking-P2P, 9632 ZAP-RPC --
onto one UDP port carrying QUIC over ZAP, end-to-end post-quantum.
Scope: transport only. Snowman++/Avalanche message set and BFT logic
unchanged byte-for-byte; consensus rides QUIC streams. TCP 9631 stays
as the negotiated, proven fallback until a devnet A/B test proves
byte-identical finality.
Composition over invention -- reuses (all proven/live in tree):
- luxfi/zap QUIC transport + X25519MLKEM768 (IANA 0x11EC) TLS 1.3
- SPEC-ZAP-PQ-v1 ("Z-Wing", LP-9702) hybrid ML-DSA-65 handshake
- luxd's ML-DSA-65 NodeID scheme + PQHandshake
- node2 leaderless BLS vote-mesh + ZAP frame codec
New (labelled [design]): channel-bound ML-DSA identity on QUIC (closes
the shipped transport's unauthenticated-NodeID gap via an RFC-5705
exporter binding), three-class stream demux, luxd Upgrader/EndpointDialer
wiring, capability negotiation for mixed fleets, per-network DNS scheme
(<NN>.lux[-test|-dev].network) + local-fiber join, A/B acceptance
methodology, and an f<n/3 transport-transparency argument.
16 pages, builds clean via repo Makefile (pdflatex; bibtex; pdflatex^2).
